McKenzie's new high school was
completed and ready for occupancy on
December 1, 1997. The new facility is
approximately 107,000 square feet. The
school has an average enrollment of 440
students. The school has 20 classrooms,
three computer labs, three science labs,
a multi-media center, a climate
controlled gymnasium, a music area, a
cafeteria and administrative offices.
There are more than 100 computers
connected to the internet in the
building.
Courses
Advanced courses offered by McKenzie
High School include: Applied
Communications; Math for Technology;
Marketing; Entrepreneurship; Accounting;
Software Tools; Desktop Publishing;
Technological Presentations; Art
Appreciation; Theater Arts; Instrumental
Music; Drivers Education and Physical
Education.
Students are also offered the
following vocational/technical courses:

Drafting; Industrial Electricity; Carroll County Vocational Center
(Huntingdon)- Office; Metal Technology;
Auto Mechanics; Tennessee Technology Center at Paris-
Cosmetology; Industrial Maintenance;

Softball, Tennis and Cheerleading teams
are active at McKenzie High School.

With 160 years of providing education in
Tennessee, Bethel is full of tradition
and history. But, it's not what has
happened in the past, it's what is
happening in the future that Bethel is
about. Bethel is the first "IBM Thinkpad
University" in the state of Tennessee
and strives to stay with the leaders in
computer training.
Every full time student in their
traditional on-campus program walks into
an environment that is oriented toward
the future. When you arrive on campus a
state-of the-art IBM laptop computer
will be waiting for you, complete with
your own e-mail address and access codes
for Bethel's local area network and for
unlimited access to the World Wide Web.
Class work, research, and the whole
scope of communications will be moved to
another level - a level that reflects
the future, not the past.

The Tennessee Technology Center at
McKenzie, established in 1965 under the
state Board of Education, provides post
secondary education in the technical
field. The curriculum prepares students
for employment and upgrades the skills
and knowledge of persons who have
already entered the workforce. The
Technology Center operates on a quarter
term and offers classes year round.
Preparatory training is offered on a
full-time basis during the day. Classes
to upgrade previous training are offered
as part-time supplementary classes in
the evening schedule.
Tennessee Technology Center at McKenzie
offers programs in Automotive
Technology, Basic Skills, Business
Systems Technology, Drafting, Heating,
Air Conditioning, Refrigeration,
Industrial Electricity/Electronics,
Machine Shop and Welding.
Additionally, Tennessee Technology
Center is willing to work with
industries that request specific
training. Blueprint Reading and Computer
Training are two courses that have
currently been added due to the request
from local business and industry.
